BOMBER COMMAND HERITAGE

BCH is doing what it can in the 21st Century for the subject of RAF Bomber Command of the WWII-period and formative years, and the British and Commonwealth effort and sacrifice.

It is campaigning to establish an Education Centre/Museum at the historic Site of the former RAF Bicester which is owned by the MoD.

“To forget this history is to risk such events repeating themselves, and a profound injustice to all those that gave so much.”

We are currently forming into an Incorporated Charity. As part of this process and to help with ongoing costs of professional services and the Campaign needed to action the Heritage Centre/Museum, we would very much appreciate donations to our "FIGHTING FUND." VOLUNTEER

If you would like to actively help us in our work, and become part of the BCH Team, you must first be inducted into BCH to more fully understand what we are trying o achieve, agree to our aims and ethos, then  register as a BCH VOLUNTEER and pay an Annual Fee as you are joining the BCH VOLUNTEER Association. We then also aim to provide you with a basic Health and Safety course so that all VOLUNTEERS are aware of such issues.

So in the first instance please contact us to arrange an induction session into BCH.
volunteering@bc-heritage.org

We try our best to group new applicants into a batch to save energies, so there may be a small delay as we arrange a suitable date for this.

N.B. Due to the the lack of on-site access to Bicester at the moment, our work is primarily focused on our campaign to obtain the Site. Most of our actual  project work is taking more of a back seat until we have fixed premises.

To become a BCH VOLUNTEER is a 4-step process:

  1. Become "inducted" into BCH
    eMAIL: volunteering@bc-heritage.org

  2. Fill in a VOLUNTEER Registration Form
    REGISTRATION FORMDOWNLOAD

  3. Fill in an Annual Fee form, and pay the fee!
    (1st year £20, then £15/year thereafter)

STORIES

We have embarked on a highly ambitious data store project, which is to record permanently "something" about all veterans involved. This includes both military and civilian personnel, or just anybody who was there at the time. So from "aunty Flo" who made Lancaster rudders, to "uncle Bob" who was a skipper on Stirlings, we want to have something about them all - not just the famous, but the un-sung heroes too. We can then make this information available for future generations including researchers, family members, or the general Public. A permanent memorial to all who served in some way.

This can be primary information from the veterans themselves, or secondary information provided by families or friends. Anything from one or two lines of text about the individual, to full-blow life stories or accounts of certain events. Even just trivial snippets of social history such as jokes, or little anecdotes about life at the time all will help us build a complete picture.

This can be in any form: written; photos; Oral history recordings (audio or even video) - we will make use of it all.

Ideally a short basic biog about the individual, and then something that helps tell their story. We can then then use this and relate people to objects, places, and events.
